Preschool

3 to 5 years

Our preschool is tailored for children aged three to five, offering an enriched environment that nurtures individual development at their own pace. Here, they delve into the seven areas of learning, indoors and out, preparing for school while exploring and growing.

Responding to feedback in summer 2022, we blended our toddler and preschool spaces, creating a dynamic, varied setting that fosters peer learning. Transitioning to the Curiosity Approach has transformed our space into a tranquil, inquisitive haven, greatly benefiting children, practitioners, and parents alike.

With a maximum capacity of 14 preschoolers and a 1:8 ratio, our four dedicated practitioners ensure an exceptional standard of care and attention.

Studies show that extended play-based learning cultivates confident adolescents with improved academic outcomes. We believe in the power of play, enhancing life skills and responsibility while gently introducing the classroom model, ensuring a seamless transition to school.

Preschool isn’t just about academics; it’s a pivotal time for social and emotional growth. Here, children explore, discover themselves, interact with peers, and build self-assurance. It’s a safe space where they learn independence, decision-making, and the joy of accomplishing tasks on their own.

Joining our Toddler Room means becoming a part of a caring team dedicated to your child’s well-being and development. Led by a room leader, our team comprises practitioners and an assistant practitioner, ensuring a nurturing environment for your little ones. While we strive for consistency, we acknowledge that changes occur, and our management team works closely to maintain continuity for your child.

After lunch, our toddlers find a peaceful, safe space in our sleep room, adhering to the safer sleep guidance by the Lullaby Trust. Our spacious, open-access garden invites exploration and connection with nature, offering boundless opportunities for digging, splashing, and discovering, weather permitting.

We’re thrilled to provide access to our Forest School program, allowing flexibility for toddlers to engage in nature’s wonders. Regular trips to nearby parks, lakes, and even visits to see local sheep enhance their outdoor experiences.

Mealtime at our Toddler Room is a joyous exploration of tastes and textures, aligned with our nursery’s menu. We encourage independence, from setting the table to pouring drinks, fostering social skills and a positive relationship with food.

Transitioning to semi-skimmed milk by the age of two is encouraged, and we advocate for self-service with water throughout the day, promoting independence.

Maintaining health and hygiene is paramount. Daily teeth brushing sessions and a strict hygiene routine for nappy changes ensure a healthy environment. We work closely with parents during the potty training phase, witnessing high success rates and confident toilet users.

As part of our partnership with parents, communication is key. We value your involvement from registration through regular updates on your child’s development. Open days, daily face-to-face interactions, and family hub communications ensure a strong connection between home and nursery. Your input is invaluable and shapes your child’s experiences with us, aiding their confidence and security as they grow. Regular consultations ensure that we continue to provide a satisfactory service, nurturing a supportive relationship between our team and your family.
